3. Static charges go to ground.

At this stage of the grounding process the MGV has established that the pipe running underground will safely remove static charges from the potentially combustible area. Static charges cannot build up on the truck or additional transfer equipment, e.g. hoses, because the truck is at ground potential (0 Volts) so that hazardous voltages, which could discharge incendive static sparks, are not present on the truck for the duration of the transfer process.
